Lord Voldemort Shows His Dance Skills in Harry Potter Parody of Uptown Funk

Posted on March 25, 2015

Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson's catchy hit "Uptown Funk" has inspired several parodies, but this one from Keith Allen and his KFACE TV is absolutely amazing. "Dark Lord Funk" is a hilarious and clever creation which features Lord Voldemort bringing down the house with his mad rapping and singing skills. Oh, and he can really bust a move, too.

The video is the brainchild of writer/director Keith Allen, filmmaker Marcus Joseph, musical director Andrew Carver and actor Elijah Thomas. The very talented Thomas sings and dances as Lord Voldemort and he is absolutely hilarious. The video opens with the iconic scene from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in which Harry ends up captured by Voldemort and his loyal Death Eaters. Harry Potter is understandably frightened and quite puzzled when Voldemort (Elijah Thomas), Bellatrix Lestrange, and crew burst into song. He Who Must Not Be Named raps,

"This Wiz, I’m ice cold
I'm Voldemort, That white gold/
This one, for that H.P./
Says he hates me,/
But what can he do?/
Caught the kid, boy who lived/
Harry’s outta luck/
With the Elder wand, stop the chosen one/
Maybe make a new horcrux? (Ha!)/

The Death Eaters face off with the Hogwarts students on a Saturday night. We get to learn about Voldemort's off hours: Apparently he and Bellatrix hang out at the local beauty parlor in curlers. Voldemort dances with his pet snake, issues challenges to Harry and pals and then goes on a bit of a recruiting spiel to the Hogwarts students, telling them,

Come on, curse! Just cast it,
/ If you got the mark, then blast it/
If you’re pureblood, we’ll have it/
No need to fear the dark magic!/

There are Harry Potter Easter Eggs throughout the video, from shout outs to popular spells, Voldemort dancing wearing the Sorting Hat and so on. The name of his band is Tom and the Riddles. And he does an awesome mic/wand drop at the end, proclaiming Slytherin has won the House Cup. The choreography, the lyrics and the inclusion of the actual Harry Potter theme music works perfectly.
