Michael Jackson's Doctor Charged With Involuntary Manslaughter

Michael Jackson's doctor, Conrad Murray, surrendered at a Los Angeles courthouse. Murray has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.
Dr. Conrad Murray, 57, who once was paid $150,000 a month to treat Jackson before a major comeback concert series, pleaded not guilty to the charge filed earlier in the day by the Los Angeles District Attorney.

Superior Court Judge Keith Schwartz set bail for $75,000 -- rejecting prosecutors' request for $300,000 -- and ordered Murray to surrender his passport. Murray was granted permission to continue practicing medicine as long as he doesn't administer anesthesia.

"I'm talking about deep anesthetic, where you put somebody to sleep," the judge said. "You can be in a room where another doctor is doing it, but you can't do that."
A crowd greeted Murray and many screamed "Murderer!" as he went inside the courthouse. The L.A. coroner has ruled that Michael Jackson died because of an accidental overdose of the anesthetic propofol that Michael took for insomnia. Murray administered the anesthetic at Michael's home and not in a hospital.

Father of Michael Jackson Accuser Commits Suicide

The father of Jordy Chandler, the boy who accused Michael Jackson of sexual molestation, has committed suicide. The Jordy Chandler case was settled when Michael paid millions to make the civil suit go away. The case never went to trial in the criminal matter because Jordy refused to testify. All parties signed confidentiality agreements. Radar Online reports:
Evan Chandler, formerly a Beverly Hills dentist, shot himself in the head. He was found dead in Jersey City, N.J. Jersey City Police Department spokesman Stan Eason told RadarOnline.com: "Evan Chandler's body was found at 5.35 pm on November 5 by the concierge at his luxury apartment building in Jersey City. We have ruled it as suicide because he was found with a gun held to his body and had a single bullet wound to the side of his head. Mr. Chandler was 65.

"There was no note found in the apartment but officers did find medication in keeping with a serious medical condition. A doctor based at Colanta Hematology in Bayonne, NJ, had called the concierge, asking him check on Mr. Chandler's apartment as Mr. Chandler had missed an appointment. It was thanks to the concierge's actions that Mr. Chandler's body was discovered. Mr. Chandler;s body has now been returned to his family."
A serious medical condition? It sounds like they are indicating that he had a terminal illness. Colanta Hematology's website says that it offers chemotherapy and related services.

Paparazzo Rear Ends Jackson Family Car

A paparazzo crashed into one of the Jackson family vehicles while trying to get a shot of Michael's children. No one was hurt, thankfully. People magazine reports that the photographer rear ended one of the Jackson's cars.
A paparazzi photographer following Michael Jackson's children got into an accident Wednesday with one of the family's vehicles in Los Angeles, according to police. "The damage was minor and there were no injuries," says Sgt. Ann Pickering. "A report was taken and it's under investigation."
The children were accompanied by security guards and a nanny, and possibly other minders. The police didn't say whose car was hit, but it wasn't the car the children were driving in. But it easily could have been. This is just the Princess Diana thing all over again. Michael's children did not seek out fame and celebrity and they need to be kept safe. Photographers shouldn't be allowed to follow children and endanger them.

Egyptian Statue Resembles Michael Jackson

Egyptian Statue Michael Jackson

This Egyptian statue of a woman kept at the Field Museum in Chicago bears an uncanny resemblance to the late singer Michael Jackson. The statue was carved sometime during Egypt's New Kingdom Period - from 1550 BC to 1050 BC. NBC Chicago says Michael Jackson probably never got a chance to see the statue, which has been on display at the museum since 1988. If he did see it, perhaps it inspired his many plastic surgeries.

DEA Agents Raid Michael Jackson's Doctor's Office

DEA agents in full gear raided the offices of Michael Jackson's doctor, cardiologist Dr. Conrad Murray of Houston. TMZ says Murray's attorney, Ed Chernoff, just released the following statement about the raid saying that the raid was to find evidence of the offense of manslaughter.
"We can confirm that a search warrant was executed today on Dr. Murray's offices in Houston, Texas. We reviewed the warrant and remained on the premises while the search was being executed. The search was conducted by members of the DEA, two Robbery – Homicide detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department and Houston Police officers.

The search warrant authorized law enforcement to search for and seize items, including documents, they believed constituted evidence of the offense of manslaughter.

Law enforcement concluded their search around 12:30pm, and left with a forensic image of a business computer hard drive and 21 documents. None of the documents taken had previously been requested by law enforcement or the L.A. Coroner's office."
So Dr. Murray is being investigated in a possible manslaughter case. This could get very ugly, very fast for Dr. Murray. Unsubstantiated reports have accused Dr. Murray of injecting Michael Jackson with the anesthetic drug Propofol, which should only be used inside a hospital setting. Unofficial autopsy reports say Michael's body was filled with drugs the day he died, including multiple painkillers and anti-anxiety drugs.

Michael was rehearsing for his big comeback concerts at the O2 Arena in London. It's only a walk-through, clearly, not even the back-up dancers are giving it their all, and the director can be heard giving directions. But you can still tell it would have been a great number. Neverland Ranch Plans Fizzle

Some fans are sad that Michael Jackson will not be buried at Neverland Ranch. The memorial is also not going to be held at Neverland Ranch and will be in L.A. instead. One fan said the area is really not set up for loads of visitors because there are single lane roads. The local community is also not entirely ready to embrace tourists. There were concerns the situation would get out of hand if there had been a memorial.
