When Guy Ritchie was first introduced to Madonna, by Sting & Trudie Styler, he had a very rich girlfriend by the name of Rebecca Green. Guy had a reputation of being a golddigger and he definitely lived up to that when he dumped his girlfriend of four years, Rebecca, for the much much richer Madonna. "For his entire marriage to M, Guy lived like a king," one of our many close Madonna sources tell us. "He never spent a dime of his own money for their lifestyle or the children."

In fact, sources tell us, Guy insisted that Madonna purchase a 1,200 hundred acre estate for him, fund million dollar holidays and fly him around on private jets to accommodate his fear of flying. "Madonna finally got fed up with him never being around and being used and filed for a divorce," an impeccable source tells us. "Guy has threatened to go after half of M's hard-earned money, claiming that the law is on his side. He doesn't care that the world thinks of him as Heather Mills. He doesn't care that he has his own money and doesn't need hers. He feels he is entitled to half of her empire." Madonna's friends and associate tell us, "She is devastated."

Guy continues to live in the London house Madonna bought, ordering the staff around while she is on tour and pretending that he is the good, simple, family man only interested in his children and the countryside.

"Guy Ritchie is a fake and a phoney," says one of Madonna's confidants, clearly hurt by the way Ritchie has treated her. "He is not a macho man. Not an English lad. Not a gentleman. Not spiritual. He's just a money-hungry gold digger that doesn't want to earn his way."

Madonna and Guy to Divorce

Madonna and Guy Ritchie are getting a divorce, Madonna's rep confirmed today.

"The main concern for Madonna and Guy are their children – the security of their children in all senses of the word and the wellbeing of their children," rep Liz Rosenberg tells PEOPLE. "That's the priority for both of them moving forward. It's a sad situation."

The former couple, who have Rocco, 8, and David, 3, together and Madonna's 12-year-old daughter Lourdes with ex Carlos Leon, announced their divorce in a statement.

"Madonna and Guy Ritchie have agreed to divorce after seven-and-a-half years of marriage. They have both requested that the media maintain respect for their family at this difficult time," says the statement. The statement says they have not agreed to a settlement.

A story in The Sun says that Madonna is worth nearly $600 million and that Guy is worth nearly $60 million, but that Guy doesn't want any of her money. Madonna has hired Fiona Shackleton to represent her -- Fiona represented Prince Charles and Paul McCartney in their divorces. We hope they settle things out of court, because this is going to be a terrible ordeal for their children. Think of little David Banda -- will he still get to spend time with his new daddy? We certainly hope so.

Britney to Appear During Madonna Concert

Britney Spears was set to begin filming a video montage which will appear at some point during Madonna's concert tour, but the shoot was delayed a day because of glitch on set.

Spears had been scheduled to begin shooting a video montage for Madonna's upcoming tour this morning at the Lots soundstage in Hollywood. But production insiders say that because the set was not finished in time, cameras will not roll until tomorrow.

The set features an elevator, in, around and on which Spears will dance. "The video will be very deep," a source in the Spears camp tells E! News. "You've never seen Britney like this before. It will blow your mind."

Madonna reached out to Britney to do the project, says the source. The Material One's publicist, Liz Rosenberg, would only say that "there is footage being shot of Britney some time this week in conjunction with Madonna's upcoming tour" and that the segment was not a music video. "That is all the information I have available," the rep added. "The rest is a secret."

It was really quite nice of Madonna to reach out to Britney and give her a video spot on her tour. We hope it goes well for Britney.

Madonna Denies Affair, Divorce Rumors

Upset by the swirling rumors about her alleged affair with A-Rod and his subsequent obsession with the teachings of Kabbalah, as wells as an impending divorce, Madonna has taken the unusual step of issuing a personal statement:

"My husband and I are not planning on getting a divorce. I know Alex Rodriguez through Guy Oseary, who manages both of us. I brought my kids to a Yankee game. I am not romantically involved in any way with Alex Rodriguez. I have nothing to do with the state of his marriage or what spiritual path he may choose to study."

"I have learned over the years not to take accusations and the many false reports about me very seriously. I also appreciate how fiction and fact seem to be perceived as one and the same by people who read both newspapers and the internet."

Alex Rodriguez's wife Cynthia has told people that she blames Madonna for the breakup of her marraige. Cynthia is currently in Paris being comforted by one of Madonna's exes, Lenny Kravitz. Lenny issued a statement saying they are just friends. What a mess. Well, time will tell if the divorce rumors are true.

Madonna Thinks Tom Cruise Is Getting a Raw Deal

Madonna talked with New York Magazine about lots of interesting things. She thinks Tom Cruise is getting a raw deal in the press, even if he does worship turtles and frogs. Wait, what?

Interviewer: Tom Cruise was at a recent fund-raiser [for Malawi]. Do you sympathize with him?

Madonna: I do. I don't care if people worship turtles or frogs--if they're good people, that's all I care about, and he is a good person. I think he gets a raw deal, just as I think the orphans in Malawi get a raw deal, just as I think a lot of marginalized people get a raw deal.

How big a check did he write to Raising Malawi? Ok, that's pretty cynical of us. We just can't help ourselves. But we do love Madonna.

Madonna Won't Sing

Madonna graces the cover of Vanity Fair in May looking quite fabulous. She's been doing interviews lots of places to promote her upcoming album, which drops on April 29. In an interview with New York's Z100 FM radio station she says that it would take a lot of money to get her to sing "Like a Virgin" again. Like $30 million or so.

"I'm not sure I can sing 'Holiday' or 'Like A Virgin' ever again," the singer tells New York's Z100-FM in an interview scheduled to air Friday. "I just can't -- unless somebody paid me like $30 million or something. [Like if] some Russian guy wants me to come to the wedding he's going to have to a 17-year-old, you know it."

The reason I gave him a B-12 [shot] is because we only had a certain amount of days in the studio and I didn't want him to use that as a lame-ass excuse not to come to work. Okay? Madonna Sparkles at Raising Malawi Benefit

Madonna and a star-studded crowd turned out for the Raising Malawi benefit at the United Nations. The event was sponsored by Gucci. Madonna and her daughter Lourdes both look amazing. Funniest moment: Lourdes reveals how stressed her mom is, then clams up when the reporter asks Lourdes what the most important lesson is that her mom has taught her.

Madonna Did Not Cancel Christmas

Guy Ritchie told Extra TV that his wife Madonna did not cancel Christmas at their house after all.

It turns out that Madonna is not the Grinch! Despite reports of Madonna canceling Christmas for the family, her husband Guy Ritchie tells Extra otherwise. Guys says that all their kids get 3 presents each during Christmas. Ritchie says, "So by the time they get to the third present they've had their sugar hit. As long as the kids get three presents at Christmas, everyone’s being happy."

And despite the fact that the family studies Kabbalah, they have not yet converted to Judaism so they don't celebrate Hanukkah either. "I have not converted to Judaism and neither has my wife," Ritchie said.

So, to recap: They study the ancient Jewish tradition of Kabbalah, but they're not Jewish and don't celebrate Hanukkah. But they do get three gifts at Christmas. We think Guy got in really big trouble for spouting his mouth off a couple of weeks ago about Madonna canceling Christmas; the headlines were so horrible that he had to correct himself. Or maybe he just meant that they don't do a huge Christmas anymore -- that was the "canceling" part. It's all very confusing. But at least little David Banda gets three Christmas presents -- so that's good.

No Christmas Presents For Rocco, Lourdes and David

Guy Ritchie revealed that he and Madonna banned Christmas presents a few years ago and as a result they actually enjoy the holiday more now. But what about Lourdes, Rocco and little David? Do they enjoy getting no Christmas presents?

"We canceled Christmas a few years ago," Ritchie, the 39-year-old director of Snatch, told PEOPLE. "Stopped all the presents. And ever since [we] stopped the presents, we're are actually enjoying it."

So this year's celebration will be a quiet affair. "We are not sure what we are doing," he added. "Probably staying in London."

As for who's doing the cooking, Ritchie replied, "Well, it's not me!"

Does this have something to do with Kabbalah? Do they at least get Hannukah presents? Or a special dinner? And if Guy isn't cooking, who is? All burning questions that we need answered.
