Giant Rubber Duck Appears in Sydney HarbourA giant yellow duck made its appearance in Sydney Harbour today.
The duck is the creation of Dutch sculptor and artist Florentijn Hofman. Hofman told The Australian, "I want to emphasise we are one family, we are one planet and we have to take care of each other and enjoy. It's about meeting and it's about talking to each other, getting into contact again by an impulse from this icon, this rubber duck."
This is the duck's first appearance in Australia. The duck will appear in a two hour afternoon show called Act Two - The Arrival, for Sydney Festival's Day One opening party tomorrow. The show is directed by Lieven Bertels. It tells the story of a young boy getting ready for his bath when he suddenly realizes that he has lost his rubber duck. We're thinking this story is going to have a very happy ending. Here is video from the rehearsal: Posted on January 3, 2013 comments powered by Disqus |
