Derek Zoolander and Hansel Critique the Candidates' Fashion Styles

Posted on February 7, 2016

Fabulous male models Derek Zoolander (Ben Stiller) and Hansel (Owen Wilson) made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live during the Weekend Update segment and it was hilarious. The two, sporting cutting edge fashion, explained to Colin Jost that they were not there to do commentary on fashion. Hansel explained, "No, no, listen Colin. We're not here to talk about fashion. We're here to talk about the one thing everyone wants to hear male models talk about: politics."

Then they proceeded to critique the presidential candidates' wardrobes. Derek praised Hillary Clinton's fashion sense which reminds him of his good friend Kim Jong-un, sister of Kim Kardashi-un. Hansel pointed out that Hillary is from the 90s and noted that the 90s are really hot right now. Then they were shown a photo of Ted Cruz, which Derek thought was Tom Cruise. He was horrifed at how Tom had "let himself go" and noted that it was a Mission Impossible -- for his stylist. Hansel chimed in, "Yeah, he makes me want to keep my eyes wide shut!"

Bernie Sanders got taken to task for his disastrous suit. But they had nothing but praise for Donny Trump, who they love. They noted he has the classic features of a male model and his own signature looks: Orange Mocha Crappuccino (when he did quite a pout), Hot Mess (when the wind was particularly strong), and his new look, Second Place right after the Iowa Caucuses. Oh, pardon us. We meant the Iowa Couscous. Take a look:
