Derek Jeter to Retire at End of 2014 Season

Posted on February 14, 2014

Derek Jeter, the shortstop for the New York Yankees, will retire at the end of the 2014 season. Jeter made the announcement in a letter he posted on Facebook.

Jeter began his baseball career with the Yankees in 1995 and played in 15 games. He was a regular starting in 1996. He is highly likely to finish his career with a .310+ batting average. He has already eclipsed the 250 home run mark. These are both very impressive for a shortstop. You can view Jeter's stats here. Jeter also has five Golden Glove awards. He will definitely be missed by the Yankees and baseball fans.
