Bandslam Struggles in Opening Week Bandslam starring Vanessa Hudgens flopped at the box office in a weekend lead by District 9. High School Musical comparisons may have doomed the movie says ITN. It must have been marketed incorrectly because the film could not get people in theatres despite positive reviews. Sadly, it is very difficult for a movie to recover after a weak opening. Bandslam star Alyson Michalka says Bandslam is a much more mature movie than High School Movie. She says it has a "lot of heart and a lot of substance."
