Emma Roberts Says She's Not Ready For Serious Roles Yet

The L.A. Times talked to Lymelife star Emma Roberts at the Sundance Film Festival. Emma Roberts turns 18 next month but she's not ready for serious film roles just yet she told the National Post.
Career-wise, Roberts has lots to discuss. Besides Hotel for Dogs, she has two films at the Sundance Film Festival, which kicked off Thursday. Roberts co-stars in the melodrama Lymelife with Alec Baldwin, Cynthia Nixon and Kieran and Rory Culkin. "It's an edgier movie than I'm usually in," she explains. Her other Sundance entry is a more traditional "feel-good" flick called The Winning Season. "It's about a girls' basketball team and I'm one of the girls," she says.

Then there's Wild Child, the mainstream comedy set for release later in the year in which Roberts plays a spoiled California Valley girl who is sent to a strict all-girls academy in England. "It's already done well in the U.K.," Roberts reports.

In other words, she isn't forcing herself to do more serious projects. "I've considered mature material but nothing extreme or ridiculously over the top like, 'Look at me, I'm a grown-up,'" she says.

"There have been young actresses doing that lately," Roberts adds, "but I won't be one of them."
Emma Roberts film Hotel for Dogs is in theatres now. She says she likes Sundance because of the casual atmosphere but dislikes the cold. Take a look:
