America's Funniest Home Videos Fourth Primetime Show to Reach 500 Episodes

America's Funniest Home Videos became the fourth show in history to reach 500 episodes on November 11, 2012. Only three other primetime entertainment shows have reached the elusive benchmark: The Simpsons, Lassie and Gunsmoke. Kristen Dalton, Miss USA 2009, joined host Tom Bergeron for the 500th episode.

The show is the longest-running primetime entertainment show on ABC. It is in its 23rd year on the air. It has given away over 13 million dollars. The show has about 1.25 million clips in its huge library.

Bergeron said in a statement, "Taping AFV's 500th episode made me appreciate the unique milestone we share with Lassie and The Simpsons, made possible with countless videos of dogs who are smart and people who are yellow!"
