The singer's label has officially given up on getting the troubled pop tart more involved in marketing her own album, "Blackout," sources tell us. There are no plans for a tour, for example - highly unusual for a star who once cranked out hits like widgets and is riding high on the charts with her single "Gimme More." "They can't get Britney to do anything!" said a source close to the label and Spears. "They did get her to do one photo-shoot for some promotional materials, but beyond that, they can't trust her to even show up. This album could've been so much bigger with Britney involved.

"This is the one opportunity they have to try and sell a million records. They were forced to [go on with] their marketing plan" — without her. "They don't feel they need her if she's going to keep blowing them off. She's already on the cover of every gossip magazine, and she's on Perez Hilton nearly all day, every day for her antics. "Jive is just hoping to continue riding the Britney wave. The label can't afford to waste their money hoping to get some of her time to help promote this. She's too busy [hanging out] in a club somewhere."

It must be frustrating for the label, since "Gimme More" skyrocketed to No. 1 on iTunes. Critics praised some of the cuts — though it might be that anyone, and not just Brit, could shoot to the top with music produced and mixed by the Neptunes, Bloodshy and Nate (Danja) Hills. A Jive spokeswoman told us: "We absolutely stand behind Britney." Still, it raises the question: Doesn't Spears want to make money anymore? With her worth estimated at $100 million this year, maybe not. She may not even care.

In her recent child custody case, L.A. Court Commissioner Scott M. Gordon called the 25-year-old singer a "habitual drug and alcohol user" and ordered her to undergo random drug-testing twice a week. Just yesterday, Gordon ruled that Britney's ex, Kevin Federline, would continue to have primary physical custody of their two children, with Spears having just three monitored visits with them per week.

Oprah Apologizes For School Abuse Scandal

Oprah Winfrey tearfully said she was so sorry over the growing scandal at her South African girls school. Allegations that a matron physically and sexually assaulted students have rocked the school.

The daytime queen profusely apologized to the parents of students at her all-girls school in South Africa for a sex-abuse scandal that resulted in the dismissal of one of its dormitory matrons. "I've disappointed you. I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry," a tearful Winfrey told angry families who showed up for an emergency meeting at the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls, according to South Africa's news.24.com, a leading news site.

Allegations surfaced two weeks ago that a "dorm parent" had been accused of fondling a girl and physically and verbally abusing several others, including grabbing them about the neck, beating them and hurling them against a wall. The talk-show host made her second visit to the school, located in the town of Henley-on-Klip, just south of Johannesburg, in as many weeks. She reportedly took full responsibility at the gathering and begged parents to forgive her for the staff member's behavior. The accusations came to light after one of the pupils ran away, purportedly because she couldn't stand the alleged abuse any longer.

Oprah has been to South Africa several times to meet with parents, students and teachers to find out what really happened. She has given her private phone, email and address to the girls so that they can contact her at anytime. We think Oprah had sincerely good intentions opening the school. But the reality of having your name on a school that is so far away has to be taking a toll. How can she really ever know what's going on there? It's a shame that this worthy project is having so many troubles.

Tony Romo Gets Friendly With Britney Spears

Ryan Seacrest observed Britney Spears giving Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo a lap dance this weekend.

Ryan Seacrest was at Hollywood club Les Deux October 26 when Britney Spears mingled with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo - said he saw the singer give him a lap dance. "I spoke to her for a minute. She seemed to be in a very, very good mood,” he said on his KIIS-FM radio show this morning. “She had her sunglasses on. I said, 'Busy day, huh?' She kind of smiled and laughed and said, 'Yeah.' And then I believe I saw her and Tony Romo frolicking."

"Lap dancing?" a co-host asked. "I mean some would say," Seacrest said. "She's on his lap," the co-host continued. "Yeah," Seacrest replied.

Usmagazine.com reported Spears (with longtime pal Alli Sims) first met up with Romo when they made a five-minute stop at Ketchup restaurant in L.A.after her frenzied custody court hearing on Friday. Spears and Sims left after about five minutes. The pair hit Les Deux around 10:30 p.m. Romo, 27 (who was recently linked to Sophia Bush), and his friends joined them a short time later. "She was dancing and talking a lot with Tony," an onlooker told Usmagazine.com.

Spears, the witness added, "seemed in a really good mood and was super happy when [one of her] songs came on." Her pal Avril Lavigne also popped by her table to say hi. In typical Spears club style, the singer changed into a new dress and shades in a club bathroom midway through the night.

Tony Romo really gets around. First it was Carrie Underwood. Then last week it was Sophia Bush. Now it's a lap dance from Britney. Could an encounter with Paris Hilton be in his future? It seems like a logical progression.

Britney: Eat It, Lick It, Snort it... You Khow the Rest

Britney Spears' day in court didn't go so well. The court-ordered monitor gave her report and it wasn't pretty. The monitor said that Britney didn't pay attention to her, wouldn't listen to her and that she spent a lot of time changing clothes, talking on the phone and being in her own little world.

During a break in the proceedings, Britney was asked by a reporter for Extra TV how it was going and she responded "Eat it, lick it, snort it, f--- it!"

That pretty well much sums it up, we suppose.

Daniel Dae Kim Arrested For DUI

Actor Daniel Dae Kim has fallen victim to the Lost curse. He was arrested for DUI in Hawaii, just like Michelle Rodriguez and Cynthia Watros before him.

Daniel Dae Kim, who stars as Jin-Soo Kwon on ABC's hit TV series "Lost," was arrested early this morning on suspicion of drunken driving. Details of his DUI arrest haven't been released yet, but police said he was arrested around 3 a.m. He was booked at the Honolulu Police station downtown, posted bail and was released at 5:05 a.m.

Kim didn't say anything as he left the station. He was escorted by two police officers to a silver SUV that was waiting for him just outside the police station's receiving area. Wearing a polo shirt, khaki shorts and his hair grown out, Kim kept his head down as he brushed past media, stepping into the front passenger's side of the SUV, which quickly whisked him away.

What in the world is happening on the set of Lost? Why is everyone in the cast always driving around at three in the morning, wasted out of their minds? It really is a curse. Even ("Mr. Eko") got arrested as charged with driving without a license. He was able to provide proof of a valid license, though, so the charges were dropped. Still, if we were on the cast of Lost, we'd hire a driver the whole time we were on the island.

Heidi Klum Overshares on Oprah

Heidi Klum and Seal visited with Oprah and Heidi told the story of how she first fell for Seal and his impressive assets. The interview will air Thursday, October 24, 2007, and is part of her Superstar Couples episode.

"I met him in a hotel lobby in New York City and he came in just from the gym and I was sitting there and I was, like, wow." Wow, as in Seal was wearing bicycle shorts. "And I pretty much saw everything," says Klum. "The whole package."

From that moment on, the passion never died. The couple, in a rare joint television interview, say on The Oprah Winfrey Show that they've worked to keep those early feelings alive. "The most common hiccup," says Seal, is when the first child comes along. "And it turns into all about the kids, which is understandable because they're miraculous. But then you've got to put each other first. You know, she will always be number one for me."

"Is it true?" asks Winfrey. "I have the most romantic husband," says Klum. "I do."

Wow, indeed. That was definitely Too Much Information. How about "He looked so cute in his bike shorts"? Or, "I could tell he had a great personality," or even "I've always loved his music." And they say romance is dead.

Hopefully Heidi will keep her mind on fashion because we can't wait until Project Runway premieres!

Ryan Gosling Was Fired

So, what's the real reason that Ryan Gosling left the film The Lovely Bones? According to Page Six, Ryan is a real diva and director Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings) couldn't stand him. So Peter fired Ryan two days into the shooting.

THOSE old "creative differences" are to blame for director Peter Jackson's firing of Ryan Gosling from "Lovely Bones." "Peter couldn't stand Ryan," said one source. Though Variety reported that Gosling had "stepped down" and was replaced by Mark Wahlberg, our source said, "Ryan cut his own hair, and was fighting with wardrobe. He was so demanding . . . Peter booted him two days before filming started." The flick is based on the best-selling novel by Alice Sebold. A rep for Gosling did not return calls.

After starring in the very odd Lars and the Real Girl, then breaking up with Rachel McAdams, Ryan is starting to get a reputation that's not great. But how bout Marky Mark taking the initiative and stepping into the role? We swear, he's the hardest working man in show business now. Hopefully, he and Peter Jackson will get along just fine.

Paris Hilton Wants to Be Frozen With Her Pets

Paris Hilton would like to be frozen with her pets when she dies.

The hotel heiress is keen to live forever and has invested a large sum of money in the world's biggest suspended animation cemetery, Cryonics Institute. She wants her body to be preserved and then brought back to life, along with her favourite pets, including her famous Chihuahua Tinkerbell and new mutt, Yorkshire Terrier Cinderella.

'The Simple Life' star said, "It's so cool. Almost all the cells in the body are still alive when death is pronounced. "And if you're immediately cooled, you can be perfectly preserved. "My life could be extended by hundreds and thousands of years." Earlier this week, Paris revealed her partying lifestyle left her feeling "empty inside."

The 26-year-old blonde - who spent 23 days in jail for driving offences in June - is now determined to turn her life around and do worthy things instead of being seen falling out of nightclubs. Paris - who is planning a visit to Rwanda - said, "Before, my life was about having fun, going to parties - it was a fantasy. But when I had time to reflect, I felt empty inside. I want to leave a mark on the world."

Shouldn't you make sure you die young and pretty if you're going to go the cryonically frozen route? Who wants to die at 80 then be revived later to still look 80 years old? What is the point of that? On the other hand, plastic surgery procedures are sure to have improved quite a bit in 100 years, so maybe you can be 80 -- but look 20. It could happen.

Britney Loses Visitation Rights

Britney Spears has now temporarily lost her visitation rights with her two sons. This time, she didn't give the drug testing people her phone number so they could call before they popped in for some random drug tests.

During a closed-door emergency hearing Wednesday, Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Scott Gordon suspended Spears' visitation rights until she complied with his full custody order, which includes parenting sessions and random drug tests. The decision has devastated the singer. "She's really upset," a source close to Spears tells E! Online. "She keeps saying, 'I can't believe this is happening.' It's like she just can't accept what's happened."

A second source familiar with the ongoing custody tug-of-war tells E! Online Federline was so angry when the children came back to him after their last visit with Spears two days ago he vowed to do whatever it takes to keep his ex-wife from seeing their babies again until she cleans up her act. "She just doesn't take parenting seriously," the Federline insider says. "And Kevin knows it. He keeps saying he's genuinely scared for their safety." And not even a court-ordered monitor has changed that. "He knows that even with monitored visits, no one can make Britney do what she doesn't want to do," the source adds. "She's used to telling people what to do, pushing people out of her way. She's a hard woman to control."

Federline was convinced Spears wasn't living up to her maternal responsibilities after the kids came back to his house crying and surly. "They came back to his house, and their eating schedule was off, their sleeping schedule was off, and they won't listen to him, because he knows they haven't been getting any discipline at her house," the Federline associate claims. "He has to start all over, getting them settled again, calm them down and reintroduce them to their normal schedules. And it's frustrating for him. He's been tolerating this for a long time, but he thought maybe it would get better with a monitor involved. It hasn't."

She let reporters overhear her calling the judge "an old fart," which is probably not the smartest legal move. Britney doesn't appear to be taking the judge seriously. It seems that she's been out of control for so long now that she thinks she doesn't have to obey the judge's orders. Well, she does -- if she ever wants to see her kids again. Maybe she doesn't. After all, she's not putting any effort into compliance. All she seems to do is go to Sunset Tan, Starbucks and McDonald's.

Is Britney Spears Homophobic?

Could Britney Spears be homophobic? First she has huge tiff with Ken Paves before her ill-fated VMA performance, preferring to have his assistants rather than the Hair Maestro himself do her hair. Who does that? It's insane. If Ken Paves flies out to do your hair, you just sit in the chair and let him have at it. Reports say that Britney only likes women doing her hair, which is really weird for a pop star.

Now, Page Six reports that Lance Bass came out to Britney the night of her first wedding in Vegas. She was shocked and they haven't spoken since, even though they live next door to each other.

LANCE Bass came out to Britney Spears before he told many of his other friends he was gay because he felt bad for her - and it was the last time they spoke. In a Q&A with Mickey Rapkin of GQ, Bass related, "It was the night of her first wedding, actually. I was in Vegas with her, her dancers, her manager, and my boyfriend at the time . . . Her manager had already gotten rid of [her first husband] Jason [Alexander] - they'd flown him home. Britney was upset about what she had done. I felt bad for her. I knew she was about to go through a lot of crap. I felt the need to share something. So I sat her on my bed, and I'm like, Well, I'm gay!" Spears was "surprised. I was always the Southern gentleman."

The two don't talk anymore. Bass said, "I tried. She's my neighbor in Beverly Hills. She lives next door. I tried to get in touch with her - I wanted to be that friend to help her." Also shocked over Bass's homosexuality was Marc Anthony. "We were boys. We had a good time - before he was married. He was surprised when I came out," Bass said.

We're really starting to wonder here. Why would she diss Lance after he told her he was gay, unless she has a problem with that? Because if anyone needs a gay friend, it is Britney Spears -- in the worst way. Britney, please relent! Talk to Lance! He can help. After all, he always looks great and is excellent at handling the media.

It's official. Madonna has left her record company, Warner Bros. who she's been with since the beginning of her career and signed with Live nation, the world's largest concert promoter. For an artist of her importance to ditch her record company and turn over her entire range of ventures to a concert promotion firm is unprecedented. It's a fascinating business development. Between Madonna defecting and Radiohead offering its music directly to fans on the Internet, the music business is changing rapidly. Leave it to Madonna to be in the vanguard.

Al Gore Wins Nobel Peace Price



Former Vice president Al Gore won the Nobel Peace Prize, which he shares with the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. The Nobel Committee believes that climate change is going to be one of the driving forces in future conflicts and wars on the planet, as resources become more scarce.

Achim Steiner, executive director of the United Nations Environment Program, which helped found the intergovernmental panel, said: "This prize is an indication of the degree to which we've realized in the past few years that what happens in the environment is not just about natural resources but has so many different dimensions. It recognizes that changes in the environment are likely to manifest themselves in tensions and conflicts.

This is a great honor for Vice President Gore, which he richly deserves.

Kiefer Sutherland Pleads Out DUI Case

Kiefer Sutherland has plead no contest in his DUI case. This is the fourth time he's been arrested for DUI and the second time he's plead guilty or no contest. He could be in big trouble.

Kiefer Sutherland has just copped a plea in his DUI case. Sutherland did not appear, however -- his high-powered lawyer, Blair Berk, showed up in downtown L.A. and entered a no contest plea to one count of DUI. This is Kiefer's second DUI conviction. Back in 2004, he pled no contest to driving with a .22 blood alcohol level and was sentenced to five years probation. Today's plea means Kiefer violated probation and could be sentenced to a year-and-a-half in the slammer.

Get this -- the judge who was supposed to hear the case was Michael Sauer, the same judge who nailed Paris Hilton. Sauer was on vacation today and the ever-wise Berk was able to get the case transferred to Judge Stuart Rice. Judge Rice will sentence Kiefer on December 21. Kiefer's probation is revoked pending the future hearing.

He clearly has a serious alcohol problem which he's suffered with for years. Remember when Julia Roberts left him at the alter all those years ago? The rumors said then that alcohol had a lot to do with it. Of course, she then went on to marry Lyle Lovett on the rebound. How weird was that? But back to Kiefer: the producers of 24 are not happy with this turn of events. That's for sure.

Update: Kiefer will serve 30 days in county jail. He also must enroll in an 18-month alcohol-education class and attend weekly alcohol-therapy sessions for six months. He will also face additional jail time for violating his probation from his last DUI conviction.

Lynne Spears Tries an Intervention

OK! magazine reports that Lynne Spears and Jamie Spears flew to Los Angeles to see Britney this weekend. But the trip had another purpose. They, along with Kevin Federline, spent all day at Britney's house staging an intervention. They stayed there all day, but Britney eventually fled the scene, behaving erratically.

After a marathon intervention session with her mother, sister and ex-husband, Britney Spears appears to be back to her usual, unusual behavior. Around 7pm PT on Saturday, the pop star stormed out of her Malibu home, where she had been locked in conversation with her family since the early morning hours, and sped off once more in her white convertible with a parade of more than three dozen photographers trailing her.

Her first destination was the Viceroy Hotel in Santa Monica - though it was more of a drive-by than a pit stop, as Britney only pulled into the valet area, had a brief discussion with a parking attendant and then got back on the road; all without leaving the car.

Britney then went to the Ivy, didn't stay long and then went to her other house in Malibu. Apparently, the intervention didn't work. Lynne really is trying to help her daughter, but until Britney decides she needs help she'll never take the steps to get better.

Male Peacock Jealousy Is A Danger to Blue Cars

In North Newton, Somerset, England, there is a very jealous male peacock who attacks any blue car that comes onto the giant estate on which he lives.

Like any male defending his patch, Ron does his best to banish potential love rivals. Unfortunately, this fellow's a little confused about who his competitors are. Ron, a peacock , has begun attacking any bright blue cars which drive into his territory at a stately home. In his latest assault, on a blue Lexus, he scratched and dented every panel - causing £4,000 worth of damage.

Ron's owner, Sir Benjamin Slade, said: "He doesn't seem to be bothered by other birds, but the peacock-blue cars just drive him wild. "He suddenly becomes aggressive and can't control himself." Ron lives with 12 other peacocks on the baronet's 13th century Maunsel House estate in North Newton, Somerset. The owner of the Lexus used to work at the estate but has now left. Luckily, her insurance company agreed to pay for the damage. Sir Benjamin said: "Ron literally pecked and scratched the Lexus all over. Fortunately, the owner wasn't in it at the time."

Ornithologist Quenton Spratt, at the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, said it was likely the peacock saw blue cars as a threat. He said: "I've come across this in the past. I suspect the peacock thinks the car is a bird. Larger than life aristocrat Sir Benjamin Slade has warned visitors not to drive blue cars when coming to the estate

"They are very territorial and will try to fight the car off by pecking it, as they would with another bird. "Blue cars probably compound it, as they associate bright colours with a male." He added: "Peacocks have very sharp spurs and can do some real damage." Sir Benjamin, however, has another theory. He believes that Ron is gay and wants to mate with the bright cars.

Sir Benjamin has no heirs and spent almost two years testing DNA of Slade relatives around the world to find someone to leave his estate to. So far, in the lead to inherit is Isaac Slade, 24-year-old lead singer of The Fray.

Charlie Sheen Stoops Even Lower

The Denise Richards-Charlie Sheen divorce/custody battle just got worse. Denise filed papers in court that show Charlie Sheen in an even uglier light than usual. He sent emails to Denise calling her a "sad, jobless pig" and made fun of Denise's mother's looks (she is undergoing cancer treatment and has lost her hair). He is total slime. But it gets worse. The pediatrician testified that Sheen won't let his two little girls have common vaccinations, which is totally nuts -- not to mention dangerous.

An attached letter from little Samantha's former pediatrician supports this. The doctor, Jeannette J. Levenstein, actually resigned as the child's physician in 2004 because of "differing philosophies pertaining to Sam's preventative care, I cannot, in good conscious [sic] continue to treat her." Believe me, Hollywood doctors never turn away celebrity patients unless they think something is very, very wrong. Denise's long declaration filed with the court describes Charlie as abusive, a patron of prostitutes and negligent when it comes to their little girls. It also outlines his sizeable gambling and alleged drug addictions.

But in addition to the declaration, I've also run across e-mails sent by Sheen to Richards just a couple of months ago that outline the nature of the ongoing battle. For example, on Aug. 22, Sheen wrote to the mother of his children: "You are a pig. A sad, jobless pig who is sad and talentless and, um, oh yeah, sad and jobless and evil and a bad mom, so go [expletive] yourself, sad, jobless pig." That's not all. In other e-mails, Sheen ridicules Richards' mother, who is undergoing treatment for breast cancer. "Go cry to your bald mom, you [expletive] loser," Sheen writes.

According to the lengthy court documents, Sheen screams and abuses the chidrens' nanny -- when he's not looking at underage gay porn on his computer. He is vile. Team Denise all the way.

Eva Longoria Sex Tape Spoof

Eva Longoria has a bit of fun with the tabloids and her fans. She made a spoof sex tape with comedian Perry Hilton for the comedy website, funnyordie.com. It's clearly a spoof of One Night in Paris. Eva worries that someone might see the tape, because she has an audition for a new show called Desperate Housewives. Who knew she had such a good sense of humor?

Why Britney Lost Custody of Her Kids

Britney Spears has now lost custody of her two boys, Sean Preston and Jayden James. On Monday, Brit took the boys to Carl's Jr. for lunch then handed over the tykes to K-Fed's bodyguards, two days ahead of the judge's deadline. So why did the judge alter his order and make her hand over the kids to K-Fed? TMZ reports that Britney didn't enroll in parenting classes, didn't get a California driver's license in time and didn't submit to drug and alcohol testing. Commissioner Gordon was not happy.

Britney didn't follow a number of conditions the Commish laid down. But sources tell us three factors were the last straws for Gordon.

- Britney was supposed to sign a document that would have given the green light for a custody evaluator to conduct psychological evaluations. Commissioner Gordon ordered Spears to get the signed document to Mark Vincent Kaplan, K-Fed's lawyer, by Monday at 10:00 AM or appear in court. She did neither.

- The judge ordered both Kevin and Britney to submit proof they had valid California driver's licenses and insurance. He also ordered that neither party drive with the children if they didn't have the proper license. Over the weekend, TMZ posted video of Spears driving with the kids in Malibu. She did not have a California license and still doesn't. The TMZ posting was discussed in court and the Commish was pissed off.

- The biggest reason for the change was Thursday night, Britney was at Sutra nightclub in Newport Beach. TMZ shot video inside the club. Various people say they saw her drinking alcohol after midnight. According to Gordon's order on September 17, neither Britney nor K-Fed were allowed to consume alcohol within 12 hours of the time they obtained physical custody of the kids. We know Britney picked the children up at 12 noon on Friday, which means she would have violated Gordon's order. In short, Gordon was ticked off that Britney thumbed her nose at the court.

After the judge's order, Britney checked into the Peninsula Hotel in Beverly Hills. This is such a tragedy. We think she should be put on suicide watch. You'd think there would be some way to get her into rehab now that her kids have been taken away from her (at least temporarily, anyway). But Britney isn't listening to anyone.

Paris Hilton Grilled by Letterman

Paris Hilton had a miserable time on the David Letterman Show. Dave mercilessly grilled Paris about jail, while the audience laughed at her. He wouldn't stop, even when she asked him to. Finally, she refused to answer jail questions and pouted, while her eyes filled with tears. (Reportedly she burst into tears backstage). We thought she handled herself really well, actually. And she looked great. Wonder what her new fragrance, Can Can, smells like? Dave drank some from what was hopefully just a fake perfume bottle in an effort to find out. Here's the video:
